Joel's eyes opened as he blankly stared up at the roof of the small room, his eyes flickering over to the window. Nothing but a squirrel and a few workers chatting. Good. He stood, stretching and reaching for his green checkered shirt. The shirt he wore through the winter, bloody and worn, remained in a drawer, folded neatly. Thanks, Ellie. He thought. He reached for his canvas bag and exited the room, all in about five minutes. Now that the winter was over, he could get outside and breathe some fresh air like he did before the outbreak. He also didn't have to trudge through thick snow anymore. He was first greeted by Tommy, who gave a "good morning" as he passed by with Maria. Joel didn't look for Ellie, but he was sure she was fine. He looked over at the table where her bow usually sat, but it was gone, indicating she went hunting or wanted to see what was outside, which was indeed questionable because they've been outside of Tommy's Dam several times. He strummed a guitar as he sat in a metal, rusty chair. The guitar belonged to one of the workers, but clearly, they weren't using it. It wasn't as if Joel would ever steal something from any of these people. Buckley, somewhat attracted by the sound, came and rested himself in front of Joel's feet. He set the guitar down and began rubbing Buckley's back, a smirk appearing on his face as he did so. Joel never had extreme feelings towards animals, but if they weren't trying to bite his face off, they were okay with him! Joel looked up to see Tommy staring down at him. Joel looked up at his younger brother questionably, and then stood up after Tommy made the motion for Joel to follow him. They went to the main entrance balcony, where they saw a couple of bandits that looked pretty suspicious. Joel sighed, having his good peace interrupted, and pulled his Assault Rifle from his backpack's side. He shot them both easily, but one seemed to still be alive, crumpled on the floor pitifully. All he had was a knife in hand.
"Hey..w-we were just lookin' for s-some shit to scav-enge.... Asshole.." The remaining bandit spat, blood and spit both trickling out of his mouth. "Fucker.. you k-killed my friend.. 'Yer goin' to H.." Another cough, blood spurting out of his mouth in a disgusting fashion. "Heelll.. for sure.." And the man dropped dead where he was laying in a small puddle of blood. Tommy cringed at the nasty blood and saliva that filled the man's mouth. Joel, shaking his head, walked away to where he was sitting. Buckley was still there, but he didn't seem to notice the gunshots at all. Joel shook his head, smiling as he sat down again.
