Here is some things you can keep in mind when you're writing your roleplaying posts/threads.
Much of The Last of Us revolves around the fear and danger that is so frequent in every survivors life. Keep in mind that the infected are terrifying creatures. They are a source of danger and a majority of survivors avoid them as much as possible and are scared of them. As such your character should not be looking for trouble with the infected as a bite can cause infection. This also goes along with other factions, a survivor would not rush into a hunter or firefly base if they are severely outnumbered. Your characters number one priority should be self preservation.
If you have any other ideas what to keep in mind or any questions, please contact me .
- Remember to include you character listening when something is nearby.
As a survivor, your character will always be listening in case there may be something dangerous right around the corner.
- When in contact with spores, put on your gasmask.
Keep in mind that your character should be aware of their surroundings when entering unventilated areas or buildings. Spores thrive in areas with stagnant air and survivors should be able to spot spores before entering an area so they can equip their gasmask.
- Stealth is important!
However you may not be able to be stealthy and escape without a hitch with every dangerous encounter, remember to keep things realistic with failed stealth attempts. Ex: Your character may be sneaking and accidentally knock a bottle down, possibly giving their position away.
- Stealth distractions
Bottles, bricks and other miscellanious items can serve as a good distraction when sneaking during a roleplay. Enemies and characters alike should be distracted by a sound coming from another direction.
- Artifacts and notes
Even if your character isn't the type to pick up pendants or notes, don't forget about them. They add to the atmosphere of the roleplay and can stir emotions in your character.
- Pushing objects
As seen in the game, ladders and other large objects can make for a stable surface to climb so you may get to a higher place as well as blocking doors. A path your character may be taking wont always have a clear route and they may need to move or knock over an object to block a door or to climb to another area.
- Vehicles
Not many survivors or factions have vehicles. Vehicles are hard to obtain and even harder to repair. Keep in mind that newer vehicles will not run on stale gasoline while the older vehicles will almost always be in need of repairs. Vehicles can also be a hazard due to the sound they make and possible vehicular accidents and injuries. Work hard for that vehicle!
- Organic needs
Human beings need food, water and sleep to function properly. Remember to include whether or not your character is hungry, thirsty or sleepy. This doesn't have to be included in every roleplay, but it is important to keep in mind that they have needs and may need a snack break while they are traveling or preforming a task.
- Food safety
Your character should always assume that food or medicine they have recently found might not be safe to ingest. Water that hasn't been boiled poses signifigant threats such as parasites, bacteria and other nasty bugs. It should be your characters priority when handling food to cook or boil it to death.
- Sickness and disease
Survivors obviously can't be healthy all the time. They may suffer from malnourishment due to a low food supply, making them feel fatigued and weak or they may be missing something from their diet which causes other problems. It isn't required to list this in your roleplays but it is a dynamic that is very important. Hypothermia, heatstroke, the common cold, the flu and even food poisoning can be extremely dangerous without any form of medication. Sickness can be a hindrance to your character and possibly incapacitate them, leaving them helpless.
- Health packs and first aid
Injuries sustained by a character should not be ignored unless they are escaping from danger. Remember to dress wounds while keeping in mind how much the wound might be discomforting your character. Injuries can limit movement and also cripple them for long period of time depending on the severity. Most characters should know basic first aid such as cleaning, dressing and possible stitching of a wound.
