Posted above are the three main regions for roleplay; two of which are cities and the other being a county. When it comes to deciding where you want your character to be located for roleplay, you must consider the prospect of them travelling to other areas. The other roleplay area not stated in the above is the outskirts which basically covers all other areas not listed such as wilderness, other states, cities, etc as long as it resides within the main body of the US (Alaska and Hawaii not included). The outskirts board can also be used if you don't have a definitive base or home for your character, such as if they were a vagabond or gypsy.
When travelling between locations, you must consider...
- How long will it take from them to go from point A to point B?
- What mode of transport would they use? Would they travel by foot? Horseback? By a car? Even by aircraft?
- What encounters and obstacles would they have along the way? Would the roads be blocked? Would they have been captured by hunters? What about the elements such as a flood or blizzard?
- Would they have traveled alone or in a group? How big would the group be? Are they experienced? Do they have supplies? Do they have children or wounded with them?
It took nearly a year for Ellie and Joel to cross from Boston to Jackson County but only because of the obstacles and various misleads they had when it regarded the Fireflies location. Consider how long it would take your character to make an endeavor when travelling between roleplay locations.
If you want to roleplay in the areas not listed on the map here then please consider posting in the Outskirts board.
