Name: Ellie Williams
Alias: N/A
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: N/A?
Faction: Survivor
Role: Simple survivor, carrying what could be the potential cure which the fireflies are after
Location: In suppose she'd be with Joel at Tommy's Dam
Physical Description:
Ellie is a brown haired girl with bright green eyes, along with a freckled face. She stands at around 5 feet and 5 inches tall, which equates to around 160 centimeters, or just over. Ellie keeps her hair tied back in a ponytail to keep her hair out of her face. Her outfit consists of usually a pair of standard blue jeans, this along with a red T-Shirt, accompanied by a grey/black undershirt which fully covers her arms, while the red T-Shirt normally wouldn't. Ellie also carries around a backpack with a colour scheme of dark blue, as well as a dark green colour. The bag also has various badges and zip chain like accessories on it.
Personality:
Ellie's personality is one of a teenager, though yes a little more mature since the 5 years which have passed since Joel escaped the fireflies and stopped Ellie's surgery, though she still carries many traits from her old teenage personality. She is still often snappy at people, as well as not one for making a good first impression. She is often rude to people she doesn't know, however can be extremely nice to people she knows, especially Joel. Ellie also has a serious side to her, and shows a sense of seriousness when it is called for. It is in fact rare Ellie isn't serious, immaturity might come into play when Ellie feels like it, however often she listens to what Joel says, though not always respecting his decisions.
Alignment:
Ellie is quite the good guy in this story. She was willing to give her life to find the cure for mankind, and would still most happily do so if it weren't for Joel. Joel influences her in a way to be less of the good guy, and more neutral, however Ellie's alignment would still resemble that of a good person, wanting the betterment of humanity, a similar mindset of those from the fireflies.
Likes:
Joel, her friends (when they were alive at least), helping out, being taken seriously, being trusted (usually with a weapon by Joel).
Dislikes:
Swimming (not so much the actual activity, it's more so she just can't), Joel not trusting her, being alone, the consistent and unfortunate death of her friends.
Strengths:
Ellie is usually quite good with getting through small spaces due to her height, she is also quite good at fending for herself (when trusted), surprisingly skilled with weapons.
Weaknesses:
Ellie cannot swim, and is often quite rude or even sometimes immature.
History and Background:
Ellie was born multiple years after the great pandemic which forced the world into its current state. Ellie was born into one of the quarantine zone's, in this case located in Boston. Due to this Ellie grew up with very limited knowledge on what life was actually like before the pandemic. Her life had always been as it currently was, and could only imagine what it was like before everything went to shit, most of her knowledge coming from stories which as far as she was aware, may or may not have been entirely true. Her mother became close friends with the leader of the fireflies at the time, Marlene. Due to Marlene and Ellie's mother being quite close, Marlene promised to look after Ellie upon her death, which is how Ellie and Marlene came to know each other.
Ellie in this quarantine zone meets her new friend Riley. Riley at the time had helped her escape some trouble with some boys who she provoked a fight with, however managed to get help from Riley anyway. Riley did however manage to steal Ellie's walkie before taking her leave. However, upon realizing this later Ellie decides to chase after Riley, and after a long conversation and introduction between the two, they become 'friends' and begin hanging out for some time. A small time passes and Ellie and Riley are both causing trouble, this time on the scene of a fight between the Fireflies and Military. Ellie and Riley decide to steal some smoke bombs with nothing better to do in their spare time, deciding upon putting the bombs to use. However, after the fight is disrupted, Ellie and Riley are both caught by the Fireflies, and taken away for questioning. Marlene being the leader of the Fireflies, allows Ellie and Riley to leave, only after a heated argument over Riley wanting to join back up with the fireflies. Ellie being a good friend of Riley's tries to help her in any way she can, however Marlene insists that she does not join and Ellie, and Riley, both return to the school.
Some time later, after Ellie and Riley have a falling out, leading Riley to stop turning up to school for a while. Ellie assumes Riley is deceased, and/or never coming back. However, when Ellie least expected it, Riley turns up in Ellie's room, the two taking to the streets as they go for a late night walk. Ellie is told that Riley was allowed to become a Firefly, finally. However, their bonding session is only ruined by a bunch of runners which invade their party, forcing them to flee until they near an exit point which Ellie sadly doesn't make it. Riley reluctant to let her friend go, jumps back down from her escape to protect her friend, after managing to flee the scene, they reveal to each other that they were both bit. The pair decide to wait out their final days, with Riley turning, Ellie did not, and fled to Marlene where she only then decided to take Ellie with her, and truly protect her. Marlene and Ellie plan to head for Salt Lake City, however Ellie cannot go through the city, as she is still classed as infected and will be shot on sight. This would mean she needs someone to smuggle her.
This is when Joel enters the picture. Joel and his friend Tess agree to smuggle Ellie to her destination in exchange for the return of their guns which were wrongfully sold to the Fireflies. Marlene accepts the offer, and Tess, Joel, and Ellie begin making their way over to their destination. Later, the trio are captured outside the quarantine zone, and are tested for infection, which Ellie knows will lead to her death. Upon stabbing the man in the leg, Tess and Joel both also follow through with gunning the two soldiers down. This eventually leads to Joel figuring out that Ellie is infected, which leads to Joel and Tess gaining the knowledge on what they are actually smuggling, which Ellie was told specifically not to give away in the first place. Upon reaching their destination, they find out that all fireflies in the facility have been killed, most likely by military, Tess also revealing that she has been bit, she buys the two some time to leave, setting Joel and Ellie off on their adventure to find the fireflies, in order to get the cure mankind has been waiting for.
Nothing too notable happens during their long adventures through a plagued and infected America, although upon finding the hospital which the fireflies were apparently working on a cure, once again they appear to have abandoned their research, and the pair are left with again an empty building with no success. Raiders begin searching the building, and managing to fend off the majority, Joel is eventually hit off a balcony within the hospital and lands on a bit of sharp metal left behind by some of the collapsed roof. This means Joel is forced into recovery, leading Ellie to take charge of the situation in an attempt to keep Joel alive, she moves him into a safe house in seemingly the middle of nowhere, while she hunts for food for the two to survive and searches for medicine to help her guardian who is in need of medical assistance. During this small few months, Ellie and Joel are truly brought together as Ellie is out hunting and is met by two seemingly innocent survivors, asking to trade medicine for a deer which she'd shot and killed. Ellie shaken by the two appearing, she still decides to go ahead with the deal, knowing it would help Joel's condition a great deal. In the process, Ellie manages to accidentally lead the two, who would later be discovered to be raiders, back to the house which she and Joel were hiding in. This leads to Ellie being kidnapped in the process of trying to lead them away from the house on her horse, however with the horse being shot down she is eventually kidnapped by the leader of the raiders, known as David. Ellie makes a bad impression on David, and is told she will be killed to be eaten in the morning as David and the raiders are also revealed to be cannibals. After managing to make her lucky escape, David catches up to her and forces her to kill him in a standoff, which gets rather messy as Ellie repeatedly digs into David with her newly found machete. Joel manages to find her while doing so, stopping her and taking her back, as Ellie no longer has to put up with the stress of looking after the two of them.
Skipping even more time, we see Joel and Ellie after their long journey getting closer to the Fireflie's main HQ. This is where Ellie and Joel are taken in unconscious after being found, Joel is knocked out while Ellie is already unconscious. Marlene also being there, tells Joel Ellie is going through with the reverse surgery, however reveals that she will probably die in the process. Joel, selfishly makes his way forcefully up to the room in which the surgery is taking place, killing all of the surgeons and taking Ellie home, on the way to the car only to be confronted by Marlene, which in the event he kills her. Ellie being unconscious during the entire event, wakes up to find out there are 'more people like her' and that they'd 'stopped looking for a cure'. Ellie believing and taking Joel's word for it, goes back to Tommy's Dam with Joel, with no more worries.
Arsenal: Switchblade, Bow
Equipment: Backpack, health kits, arrows, winter jacket, change of clothes
Roleplay Example:
The snow had only just stopped, Ellie and Joel both took to the road as they were out looking for general supplies. Ellie had her winter jacket on, as well as her bow in hand, with arrows at the ready on her back, neatly slotted into her backpack, ready to be quickly drawn into her bow for action. Joel walked beside her, still taller than her despite the years she'd had to grow and overtake him, he still stood above her with ease. Ellie's pace picked up as she thought she spotted something in the distance. She'd come to a stop as she holds her bow in one hand and points to a house with her other hand. "Look, someone left their light on." Ellie smirked a little before deciding it'd be a great idea to check it out. Her ambitious walk would however be stopped by Joel's voice as he interrupted her stroll with, "Not so fast, light on means someone is there." Ellie stopped and sighed as she almost guessed what his reply would be. "Fine... I don't suppose you have any bright ideas?" Ellie would say in frustration as she turns back to Joel, still walking backwards, slowly. Joel paused and didn't reply, as he looked over Ellie's shoulder to see someone looking out of the window of the house which Ellie had pointed out. Ellie paused for a brief second as she noticed Joel's gaze, before he'd say quietly. "We've go." Joel says as he spots a man in a firefly uniform peering out the window at them. Ellie turns quickly, not noticing the firefly uniform, however she does notice the man is armed with a rifle. "Shit..." is all that Ellie would say, before quickly running behind Joel towards a nearby rock for cover, laying down in the cold snow. Joel follows, though it's too late as the man in the window begins yelling for backup. The running of feet can be heard as Ellie looks to Joel confused as she says "Fuck, raiders again?". Joel looks to Ellie as he gestures her to move, exclaiming "Move, run, go Ellie!" Ellie jumps as she scrambles for her feet, bullets hitting near their feet as if they were only warning shots to try and persuade them to surrender. Ellie however, keeps running as Joel leads the way in a chase, through the wilderness. "Where to?" Ellie frantically says as the two make a sharp turn into the woods, in between a large clump of trees. "Tommy's place, we'll have to lose them first though, we can't lead them there." Joel would also say with an exhausted voice as they run.
