Ellie understood that by now, she understood what it meant to be strong, endure the pain and push forward without looking back. She pushed through for five years and with everything that had gone wrong in her life, Ellie only got stronger, not weaker. Joel kept his eyes on her and well, she grew up to accept that about the old man and his protective side that kept her under his wing no matter how hard she tried to explain that she doesn't want a babysitter following her everywhere she goes.
“ C'mon, Joeeeel! ” She dragged out his name, looking with her bright green eyes into his demanding gaze. “ I'm nineteen years old! I can take care of myself without any help, I won't be gone for long, pinky promise. ” Ellie spoke in a childish voice, raising her eyebrows in an expecting way, wanting to hear him say yes to having her go by herself to Tommy's dam. It isn't that far away, that's why she suggested it.
She beamed with excitement when he agreed to have her go, but it took one hell of a time trying to convince the man to say yes into having her go by her own. She moved away with her bow and arrows tucked safely to use them just in case. She missed killing those suckers.
Ellie would have taken the horse, but she didn't want to risk her if any intruder found her and forced Ellie to hand her over. She walked instead, something breaking into a jog or sometimes crouching to pass by clickers, her stealth slowly, but surely improving. She bent down again upon hearing the unmistakable sound of a nearby clicker. The disgusting sound of it roaming blindly, feet staggering aimlessly waiting on for a single movement to head for it blindly. Ellie bent down and pushed her hand through the snow to search for a rock, it took her a while to find one and when she did, she threw it far, hitting the tree which brought the attention of the clicker to it. It released a sound and moved to the sound blindly which helped Ellie move quietly before taking her bow along with the arrow from the quiver, she pulled the string back roughly along with the arrow, aiming at the clicker's head, Ellie released the arrow. It broke through the wind and moved to the clicker's head, dropping the creature to the floor, thrashing around before it stilled completely.
Ellie smirked proudly at that, moving to grab her arrow out from the offender's head. “ Kaboom, motherfucker. ” She said, wiping the head of the arrow into the extra cloth hanging from her pocket.

"Fuck it's cold" Kindra muttered under her breath. The snow had really started to set in now. The snow was pretty, sure but cold and the sound it made while walking, she hated it. It was a calm day in Tommy's Dam, bright but dull. There was nothing to do this day so she figured taking a walk in the forest hoping that she might get some action. It was a while now.
She started to pack her gear, her two swords, the gun just in case, 10 ammo for the revolver, water and a flashlight for when it gets darker. Her sight wasn't that good so it might come in handy. When she started to head out of her little house in Tommy's Dam the famous dog that walks from house to house came towards her with his tongue sticking out all the way. The dog was probably the only one she liked around here, because he couldn't talk shit about her. She kneeled down and raised her hand up to pet the dog. "Isn't it cold with the tongue out?" she laughed, but only a little. "It might get stuck!" but the dog just kept on puffing with the tongue flying around everywhere.
After a while of snuggling with the dog it was time to get the hell out of there and get some Kindra time. She did not make any eye contact on the way out of the dam but she could feel some eyes starring at her. It was quite uncomfortable for her but she tried not to care. She stood by the gates of Tommy's Dam as they opened. The reflection of the snow blinded her, squinting out on the large field outside she could see all the frozen trees standing almost crooked along the forest. Kindra adjusted her bag on the back and left a trail of footprints in the snow behind her.

“ Man, I almost forgot the thrill of killing them. ” Ellie spoke to herself briefly before turning sharply on her feet upon hearing a runner this time. The usual hysterical sound of their growls and the way they slam at things and move slowly in ways that can send chills down your spine. Of course, Ellie grew up to be used to that walk and grew up killing them. It has been long and she was practically born into this fucked up world. Sneaking up on the creature, she jumped on its back and stabbed it in the head a few times until it dropped forward with Ellie still on its back. Smirking in what seems like satisfaction yet again, Ellie started to move on her own to the gates.
She stopped, however, when she noticed the footsteps left in the snow. She frowned and started to follow the tracks, possibly thinking it was just a runner. Her steps were rushed, wanting to reach for it before it goes away. She wanted to blow off the steam she had built up inside by not hunting for a long time. Her bite hidden by the long sleeve, Ellie bit on her bottom lip, eyeing her sleeve and arm like it was offending her.
Ellie looked up to see a human, however. Not a walker. Not from the way she walked, anyway. She had a dog as well and it was sniffing the air, possibly trying to note the smell of the runner's blood on her shirt. “ Shit. ” She mumbled quietly and hid behind the tree. She can't attack the woman without having the dog tackle her down and she can't stay here because sooner or later, the dog will alert its owner of the smell that it was probably trained to smell. Fuck, fuck. Ellie moved stealthily away, still having her eyes fixated on the woman.
When she had come a few meters away from the gate she thought she heard something but wasn't quite sure. She noticed that her old dog had noticed something as well but then he just started to go back at sticking his tongue out and looking at her with his droopy eyes.
She started to walk in a straight direction, being ready with her swords in case something would jump out suddenly out of nowhere. She kept the dog beside her at all ways but he didn't seem to notice anything, he was old so maybe he wouldn't. There might be a chance for him to notice something if they were close enough. The dog wasn't really with her to sniff out danger, just some company so she didn't have to feel so goddamn lonely.
Just seconds after the dog stopped and stared at something, but when she looked at the same direction there wasn't anything there. "Stop it, you old bastard" She smiled and ruffled the furr on him.

The dog barked at her way which caused Ellie to properly hide before the owner would turn around and look where the dog was barking. Ellie cursed again and started to move from a tree to another in hopes of going away without getting caught, she stopped trusting people blindly a long time ago and now that she didn't see what the dog was barking at, it was her chance to move away and head on her own way back to Tommy. Back to Joel.
She had been too worked up glancing at the lady to hear the hysterical sound of the runner until it was too late. It jumped at her when Ellie turned around which tackled both of them to the ground. “ Motherfucker! ” She growled and tried to push it away from the face, kicking it a few times which made the bones break, but it brought the runner closer to her face.

Shortly after the dog had stopped barking as a maniac Kindra could hear something rather odd some meters away from her. She stood still and quiet to try to focus on the sound. After a slight moment she heard some sort of an infected bastard growling. She took out her swords to be ready, but the growling didn't come any closer to her.
Then she heard something else almost like a human saying something but wasn't quite sure so she started to head towards the growling to see what the hell was going on. She kept the old dog right behind her so he didn't get hurt when they arrived at the growling.
She peeked behind a tree to find a runner trying to bite the face of a small girl. She panicked at first but she couldn't possibly let the girl die. She held the two swords in her fists tightly and sneaked up on the runner and chopped the runners head clean off. It was quite easy to chop it off when the runner hadn't noticed her.
She panted for a while as the dark brown blood filled the white snow. "You alright, girl?"
