The age of man is just beginning.
The dawn of our era has yet to even break, but already we must prepare ourselves for what will inevitably prove to be the first of many trials to come.
We are young, and yet we have already committed enough blasphemies that our Creator, the First Father Den is ready to abandon us - as he leaves, he takes his magic with him and with that leaves the wards and enchantments that have guarded us for so long.
Now, as we're forced to strive for our own survival, the nations and empires we've built, their roots having not even received the chance to firmly set, will now be put to the test - they needn't worry about standing the test of time, not yet - they must instead focus on answering the question of whether these structures were truly built strong enough, whether these men and women inhabiting them are brave enough, whether they're smart enough, hard enough, to claim their place in the history of our world.
The climax is slowly oncoming; many are not immediately affected by Den's retreat. The magic of the First Father once warded us from the creatures that stalk the Far Lands, but these are gradually growing nearer, immediately sensing the absence of the magic that once forbade them entrance onto our lands. These dark things stalk closer, and these beasts are among the least of our threats.
Without guidance, the kingdoms now struggle amongst themselves to determine who among them is fit to rule in Den's absence - some are wise enough to retreat onto themselves, shutting their gates off to strangers and stragglers, while others now send boys and men out to beat others into submission, to claim the land that they believe to be theirs.
And yet none of this is anything, in comparison to the plot of the gods. In Den's absence, these beings expected their turn of worship, and what fury they felt to see the humans instead turn to worship themselves. In light of the wards once restraining them, these beings now plot behind the scenes, manipulating the movements of kings and queens and noblemen and noblewomen; soon, though, there will be no need for restraint - soon, the blasphemers will suffer for their impiety.
The world will feel the full extent of a vengeful god's power.
Whether it's the beginning of an ending or the ending of a beginning, this chapter of our brief story is quickly rushing towards its conclusion.
With hordes of beasts verging on our doorstep, insurgents rising within our own ranks, and the rage of the gods threatening to crash down upon us, those that have the eyes to see watch on in horror, asking amongst themselves...
Can we survive the Wrath of the Gods?
